Environmental concerns
We are proud to be part of building a better future, our event ethos is to respect this place & leave no trace.
We encourage all guests to consider the environment and to ensure that we minimise the impact that we have on our campsite and surrounding area.
Waste
Minimising impacts includes reducing waste and ensuring the event space is kept clean and tidy of all rubbish, including cigarette waste. Our environmental policy is all about minimising any negative environmental impact, we therefore operate a strict recycling system, we supply bins for the following items:
· Dry recycling (including plastic, metal, and cardboard)
· Food waste
We hand out composting bin liners to all guests and ask that everyone takes responsibility for the campsite. We request that no-one throws any rubbish on the floor, instead all guests are to use the recycling bins and ashtrays provided. If possible, we ask guests to minimise the impact further and where possible to take their waste home.
When talking about waste, the three ‘R’s are key they stand for ‘reduce, reuse, and recycle’. Reducing is about cutting back on the amount of waste we make. Reusing is for finding a new way to use items so that we don't have to throw them out. Recycling is using waste materials to make new products that can be sold again. We are trying to do our bit to minimise our impact.
Single Use Plastics
The facts about Plastic are truly horrific
The billions upon billions of items of plastic waste choking our oceans, lakes, and rivers and piling up on land are more than unsightly and harmful to plants and wildlife.
April 2022 - Fact Sheet: How Much Disposable Plastic We Use - Earth Day
The following 8 facts shed light on how plastic is proving dangerous to our planet, health, and wildlife.
To learn more about the threat and impact of plastic pollution and get tips to reduce your plastic consumption,
1. An estimated 583 billion plastic bottles were produced in 2021. That is 100 billion more than were produced just five years ago.
2. This year, five trillion plastic bags will be used. That’s 160,000 every second!
3. Americans alone use half a billion drinking straws every day.
4. In 2017, packaging production constituted the highest-demanded use for plastic, with 146 million metric tons used.
5. The amount of single-use plastics used globally has tripled since the start of the pandemic, with takeout orders driving the increase.
6. Each year, enough Bubble Wrap is created globally to cover the distance between the earth and the moon.
7. In the U.S., we throw away more than 50 billion coffee cups every year. These are coated with plastic to laminate the inside and use plastic lids.
8. Around the world, people litter more than 4.5 trillion cigarette butts every year.

Travel
As with all festivals and events travel to / from the event, is most likely to be the single largest source of carbon emissions.
Our goals are:
· To promote the use of public transport, including coach & train travel
· To promote the use of lift sharing wherever possible, by increasing vehicle occupancy rates we will reduce carbon emissions
· To source all resources for the festival from within the local environment to the campsite therefore reducing unnecessary carbon emissions
Offsetting / carbonfootprint.com
Each year we will calculate and offset all guests travel / carbon emissions in 2022 we calculated that around 24,000 miles were travelled, which was calculated to around 8.92 tonnes: 24000 miles in an average van up to 3.5 tonnes
We have used Carbon Footprint.com to calculate and offset this travel and we have invested in a scheme that plants trees in Wales. This funding supports projects which mainly plants in school locations, helping to educate children and support wildlife habitats whilst sequestering carbon emissions. For each tCO2e offset, one tree is planted in the UK and an additional tCO2e is offset through a VCS Tree Buddying project to guarantee the emission reductions.
We will continue to endeavour to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible.
